Kia has opened orders for its new EV4 electric hatchback, with pricing starting at £34,695 for the Korean automaker’s first C-segment electric model.
The EV4 targets competitors like the Volkswagen ID.3, Cupra Born, and Renault Megane E-Tech. Its most efficient configuration delivers nearly 400 miles of range.
Kia’s new electric hatchback follows the brand’s established trim structure – Air, GT-Line, and GT-Line S grades with two battery options.
All EV4 models use a front-mounted 201bhp motor shared with the smaller EV3 SUV. The powertrain delivers 0-62mph acceleration in 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 105mph.
Battery Options and Range
The entry-level Air trim comes with a 58.3kWh battery providing up to 273 miles of range for £34,695.
Higher specifications include an 81.4kWh battery offering up to 388 miles – the longest range available on any Kia EV. The Air trim with the larger battery starts at £37,695.
The EV4 uses 400V architecture, meaning 10-80% charging takes around 30 minutes.
All GT-Line and GT-Line S models come exclusively with the larger battery, though range drops to 362 miles due to larger wheels and additional equipment.
GT-Line pricing starts at £39,395. The top GT-Line S falls into luxury car tax territory at £43,895.
Standard Equipment and Features
Every EV4 includes LED lighting, heated front seats and steering wheel, and wireless phone connectivity. Kia’s three-screen dashboard setup comes standard – twin 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instruments, plus a 5.5-inch climate panel with physical backup controls.
Highway Driving Assist 2.0 with adaptive cruise control and lane keeping comes on all models, along with comprehensive driver assistance systems.
GT-Line adds aggressive styling elements, gloss black trim, and 19-inch alloys (up from 17-inch). Equipment upgrades include powered door handles, two-tone interior, privacy glass, wireless charging, and power driver’s seat adjustment.
GT-Line S introduces "relaxation" front seats that recline nearly flat while charging. These work with dedicated "rest" and "theatre" modes for parked entertainment.
Additional GT-Line S features include:
- Cooled front seats and heated rear seats
- Panoramic sunroof
- Power tailgate
- Harman Kardon audio system
- Head-up display
- Vehicle-to-load capability
- 360-degree camera system
Heat pump technology remains a £900 option, available only on top-spec models.
European Focus
Kia developed the EV4’s hatchback design specifically for European preferences. The company tested the vehicle on European roads and will manufacture it at their Slovenian facility.
A fastback sedan variant will join the lineup later as a smaller companion to the EV6.
Customer deliveries begin this autumn, with orders now open through Kia dealers.
