Kia EV5 Price & Specs Revealed Before Launch image

Kia has announced pricing for its new EV5 electric SUV, with the entry-level model starting at £39,295 when it arrives later this year.

The EV5 serves as the electric counterpart to Kia’s popular Sportage and targets rivals like the Skoda Enyaq, Ford Explorer, and Renault Scenic in the competitive family SUV market.

Specification and Performance

Kia’s sticking with its established EV lineup structure for the EV5. The Air trim sits at the bottom, followed by GT-Line and GT-Line S variants.

All launch models use the same 81.4kWh battery found in the EV3 and EV4, paired with a single front-mounted motor producing 214bhp.

The setup delivers 0-62mph acceleration in 8.4 seconds and offers up to 329 miles of range. DC fast charging reaches 127kW, allowing drivers to charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.

More powerful versions are coming. An all-wheel-drive model with over 300bhp and a GT performance variant will join the range in 2026.

Standard Equipment and Trim Levels

Every EV5 includes full LED lighting, a three-screen setup for infotainment and instruments, and heated front seats with steering wheel. Wireless smartphone mirroring for Apple and Android devices comes standard, along with automatic air conditioning.

Parking assistance includes front and rear sensors plus a reversing camera. The driver assistance package features adaptive cruise control, lane following, and forward collision avoidance.

The GT-Line specification costs £42,595 and adds sportier styling elements. Gloss black trim, adaptive LED headlights, and a powered tailgate distinguish it from the base Air model.

GT-Line models also get heated rear seats and 19-inch wheels instead of the Air’s 18-inch units. Vehicle-to-load capability and electrically adjustable front seats are included.

At the top of the range, the GT-Line S starts at £47,095. It features premium relaxation front seats with built-in cooling and adds a sunroof plus head-up display.

The flagship trim includes an eight-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, side parking sensors, and remote parking functionality. A 360-degree camera system provides additional visibility.

Kia offers a heat pump as an optional extra – but only on the GT-Line S model.

Entertainment and Technology

The EV5’s 12.3-inch main touchscreen introduces new entertainment options through monthly subscription packages.

Four entertainment tiers will cost between £7 and £18 per month. These unlock features ranging from music streaming and YouTube to Netflix and in-car karaoke.

Dimensions and Storage

At 4.61m long and 1.87m wide, the EV5 sits between its main competitors in size. It’s marginally larger than the Sportage and Ford Explorer but slightly smaller than the Enyaq.

Storage space totals 566 litres in the main boot. A 44-litre front storage compartment supplements this, while the multi-level center console provides an additional 16.5 litres of space.

The EV5 represents Kia’s continued expansion of its electric vehicle lineup, offering families an alternative to traditional petrol SUVs with competitive range and pricing.
