Kia has expanded its PV5 electric van lineup with two new variants and upgraded standard equipment across the range. The Korean automaker confirmed the additions during this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham.

The company launched its PV5 Cargo in L2H1 configuration last year. Now it’s added models on both ends of the size spectrum to give fleet operators more choices.

Smaller L1/H1 Variant Joins Lineup

The new L1/H1 sits 200mm shorter than the existing L2 model. It offers 4.0 cubic meters of cargo space – that’s 0.4 cubic meters less than the L2/H1 version.

Maximum payload actually increases to 800kg – 10kg more than the L2/H1 can handle.

Like its larger sibling, the entry-level PV5 comes with two battery options. The Standard Range uses a 51.5kWh pack while the Long Range version gets 71.2kWh. Kia says the most efficient L1/H1 configuration will travel up to 248 miles on a single charge.

High-Roof L2/H2 Adds Maximum Space

At the other end sits the PV5 Cargo L2/H2. This version comes exclusively with the larger 71.2kWh battery and delivers around 230 miles of range.

The cargo area measures 2,255mm long, 1,565mm wide, and 1,815mm tall. That height represents a 311mm increase over H1 models and creates 5.2 cubic meters of total space – 0.8 cubic meters more than the PV5 L2/H1.

Kia hasn’t confirmed final payload figures yet but expects around 630kg capacity.

Both new variants will offer Essential and Plus trim grades. The L1/H1 goes on sale this summer while the L2/H2 joins the range in early 2027. Pricing remains unannounced.

Equipment Updates Across Range

Kia also announced several improvements for all PV5 Cargo models. The driver’s seat now includes lumbar support and a two-level adjustable armrest.

A new composite bulkhead provides better sound insulation between the cab and cargo areas.

The company fitted a shorter roof antenna to keep H1 variants under the common two-meter height limit – an important consideration for multi-story car parks and some urban restrictions.

During the Birmingham show, Kia revealed its first approved conversion specialists. Wurth, TGS Automotive, Modul-System, GM Coachworks and Coolkit will handle everything from internal racking to wheelchair accessible conversions.

The specialists can also build tipper bodies for chassis cab versions of the PV5.
