Kia’s teasing a sleek new four-door concept that appears destined to become an all-electric successor to the discontinued Stinger performance sedan.
The South Korean automaker shared preview images across social media with the cryptic message: “The future awaits in shadows. Our vision takes shape soon.”
Details remain scarce beyond that announcement. But Kia’s been actively developing a high-performance GT model to elevate the brand’s image in the premium segment.
Design Points to Electric Future
The concept’s proportions tell the story – a short hood and cab-forward design that wouldn’t work with a traditional combustion engine.
Kia’s signature Starmap lighting gets pushed to extremes here. Thin light slashes sit high on the front fenders and flow into camera-based side mirrors. The massive windscreen extends halfway across the roof before meeting an equally large rear glass panel. A distinctive V-shaped band separates the two glass sections, running from A-pillar to A-pillar.
The rear features a kammback design similar to the recently launched EV4 fastback.
Interior shots are limited, but they appear to show a steering yoke replacing the traditional wheel. That suggests Kia’s experimenting with steer-by-wire technology – similar to what Lexus uses in the RZ.
Performance Expectations
This concept seems headed for production as Kia’s new halo vehicle. Performance should match or exceed the current GT lineup’s capabilities.
Expect all-wheel-drive as standard. Power output will likely hit at least 641 horsepower. Advanced features could include simulated gear shifts and possibly a drift mode for track enthusiasts.
Following Kia’s odd-even naming system, this model might carry the EV8 badge.
It would sit alongside the EV9 GT at the top of Kia’s electric vehicle hierarchy, representing the brand’s most ambitious performance offering yet.
The timing aligns with Kia’s broader EV strategy, which already includes performance variants like the EV4 GT, EV6 GT, and EV9 GT across different segments.
