Leapmotor will launch its B05 hatchback in the UK this summer as the Chinese automaker expands into the traditional family car market.
The C-segment model arrives in July as a direct rival to the Volkswagen ID.3, Renault Megane, Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot E-308.
But the B05 undercuts all these competitors with an official starting price of £30,495. That drops to £28,995 after Leapmotor’s £1,500 “Leap-Grant” discount.
Following the same strategy as its larger B10 and C10 SUVs, the B05 comes in just one fully-loaded trim level. There’s also only one powertrain option.
Performance and Range
The B05 uses a rear-mounted 215bhp motor that delivers 0-62mph acceleration in 6.7 seconds. That puts it well ahead of entry-level versions from established rivals.
Its 67.1kWh battery also exceeds the basic versions of most alternatives.
The setup offers up to 300 miles of range and supports 174kW DC charging speeds. Leapmotor uses cell-to-chassis battery construction to help with rigidity and weight saving.
The company says the B05’s suspension has been tuned specifically for European roads. The car delivers 50:50 weight distribution for what Leapmotor calls “agile and engaging handling.”
Standard Equipment
All B05 models include a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic air-conditioning, and automatic LED headlights and taillights. Keyless entry and start plus rear privacy glass also come standard.
Inside, passengers get electrically adjustable heated front seats finished in bamboo and eco-leather upholstery.
The cabin features a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker stereo system. Everything’s controlled via a 14.6-inch central touchscreen with Apple and Android mirroring plus onboard wifi.

Order books for the Leapmotor B05 open in early July. First deliveries start later that same month.
