Leapmotor has launched a plug-in hybrid version of its B10 family SUV that costs the same as the all-electric model.

The B10 Hybrid EV becomes the second range-extender in the Chinese automaker’s lineup. It brings a hybrid alternative to the existing all-electric B10.

The hybrid system works differently than traditional plug-in hybrids – the 1.5-liter gasoline engine never powers the wheels directly. Instead, it acts as a generator to recharge the 18.8kWh battery pack.

That battery powers a 214-horsepower electric motor mounted at the rear axle.

The setup delivers 0-62mph acceleration in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 106mph. Leapmotor says the B10 Hybrid can drive up to 50 miles on electric power alone before the gasoline engine kicks in to recharge the battery.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 50kW – enough to charge from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.

With the gasoline generator extending range, the B10 Hybrid achieves an official combined range of 559 miles and CO2 emissions of just 21g/km.

Pricing and Features

Leapmotor priced the B10 Hybrid at £31,495 – identical to the battery-only model. The company offers just one trim level, with metallic paint as the only optional extra at £575.

Standard equipment matches the all-electric version:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Electrically powered, heated and cooled front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 12-speaker premium audio system
  • 14.6-inch central touchscreen
  • 260-degree parking camera
  • Wireless Android and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charging
  • 64-color ambient lighting

Order books open this summer, with first deliveries expected shortly after. The B10 Hybrid will compete directly with the Nissan Qashqai E-Power.

Future Model Plans

Stellantis-backed Leapmotor plans to bring two additional models to the UK by the end of 2027.

The B05 hatchback arrives later this year to compete with the Kia EV4 and Volkswagen ID.3. The B03X compact crossover follows after that – targeting the Renault 4, Ford Puma Gen-E and Kia EV2.
