Leapmotor is hosting a pop-up showroom in London’s Coram’s Fields where potential EV buyers can take a free bungee jump from a 50-meter crane. The Chinese brand is using the stunt to encourage drivers to "take a leap" into electric vehicles.
One hundred jumps are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting today through 5pm daily. The crane offers views of London landmarks including the Shard, London Eye, and BT Tower.
The height equals five double-decker buses stacked on top of each other.
Two Models on Display
Leapmotor’s complete UK lineup will be available for test sits at the venue. The T03 city car starts at £15,995, making it one of the cheapest new cars available today – competing directly with the Dacia Spring.
The larger C10 SUV targets Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq buyers but undercuts them significantly at £36,500.
Both vehicles pack technology features typically found in more expensive EVs.
Aggressive UK Expansion
Leapmotor launched in the UK earlier this year with backing from Stellantis, which holds a 51% stake in the company. The partnership gives Leapmotor access to 46 Stellantis dealerships across the country.
The brand plans to reach 80 retailers by the end of 2025.
Leapmotor also aims to expand its model range to six vehicles within two years – quadrupling its current UK offerings.
Damien Dally, Leapmotor UK’s managing director, explained the company’s positioning:
Leapmotor is on a mission to be the best value EV brand in the UK and make electric driving accessible to everyone.
He acknowledged that many drivers remain hesitant about switching to electric vehicles.
It’s clear many drivers are still nervous about making the switch to electric, but we believe our offering, highly specified, affordable electric cars jammed-packed with technology, are the perfect first step into electric.
The bungee jump concept ties directly to overcoming that hesitation, Dally noted:
A bungee jump can feel daunting for a lot of people, but sometimes taking a leap out of your comfort zone is exactly what’s needed. For some the idea of switching to electric can feel the same way at first, but unlike a bungee jump, there’s nothing scary about going electric.
The pop-up runs from 10am to 5pm daily while jump slots remain available.
