Chery confirmed its Lepas L6 SUV will launch in the UK by the end of 2026, marking another step in the Chinese automaker’s European expansion.

The C-segment SUV will arrive in Q4 2026 with both all-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It joins the larger Lepas L8, which launches this summer.

Lepas represents Chery’s premium brand tier – positioned above Chery, Jaecoo and Omoda within the massive automotive group.

The L6 shares its platform with the Jaecoo 7 and Omoda 7. It’ll make its European debut at Milan Design Week later this month, where Lepas will showcase exterior styling inspired by “a leopard in motion.”

The company’s released external photos but is keeping interior images under wraps until the Milan reveal.

Electric Powertrain Details

The all-electric L6 uses a 67kWh battery pack delivering up to 270 miles of range.

Motor specifications haven’t been confirmed yet. However, it’ll likely share the 201bhp unit from the Jaecoo E5 EV to compete effectively in the C-segment SUV market.

Lepas claims the L6 charges from 30-80% in 20 minutes – suggesting peak DC charging speeds around 110kW.

Plug-in Hybrid Option

The PHEV variant offers up to 700 miles combined range.

Confirmed details include a 1.5-liter petrol engine paired with a single electric motor. The setup will likely mirror the “super hybrid” system in the Jaecoo 7 and Omoda 7, which produces 201bhp total output.

That system uses an 18.3kWh battery providing approximately 56 miles of electric-only range. It also features 40kW DC charging – relatively fast for plug-in hybrid technology.

The L6’s PHEV system should deliver identical specifications, though Lepas hasn’t officially confirmed this yet.

Pricing and Positioning

Lepas hasn’t announced UK pricing or specification levels for the L6.

As the “elegant” flagship brand within Chery’s portfolio, expect pricing above equivalent Jaecoo and Omoda models. The Jaecoo 7 starts around £35,000, while the Omoda 7 begins at approximately £32,000.

“The Lepas L6 marks an exciting step for our brand in Europe and, of course, the UK market – as we confirm this will be the second model sold,” said Ray Wang, managing director of Lepas UK. “Combining our proprietary super hybrid and fully electric powertrains, the L6 delivers exceptional efficiency, impressive range, and rapid charging – all tailored for British roads.”

The L6 launch represents Chery’s continued push into European markets, where Chinese EV manufacturers are gaining significant traction against established European and Korean competitors.
