British EV start-up Longbow has delivered its first Speedster demonstrator model to a select group of investors and early customers in London. The company announced that customer deliveries will begin next year.
The showcase comes just six months after Longbow revealed its plans for the £85,000 two-seater electric sports car.
Longbow’s team describes the Speedster as an “attainable and accessible” driver-focused electric sports car. The vehicle weighs just 895kg and uses a bespoke aluminum chassis.
The company hasn’t released full powertrain details yet. However, Longbow says the Speedster features a module-to-chassis battery system providing up to 275 miles of range.
Performance figures show 0-62mph acceleration in 3.5 seconds.
Design Takes Inspiration From British Sports Car Icons
The Speedster draws design cues from the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type. It features a cab-rearward layout with a long, low hood and aerodynamic front end.
Like the Lotus 3-Eleven and McLaren Elva, there’s no windscreen. Twin buttresses behind the driver and passenger lead to a sloping rear panel with a subtle spoiler.
The demonstrator model showcases what Longbow calls a “clean modern design” that references classic sports cars.
Production Plans and Pricing
Longbow will launch the Speedster in 2026. A hard-top Roadster variant will follow, starting at £65,000.
Both models will be limited to 150 units each and hand-built in the UK.
“Speedster seems to have struck a chord with enthusiasts. It’s a timeless blueprint with a twist, which was exactly what the market was missing,” said Daniel Davey, Longbow’s co-founder and CEO.
“We’re a new company with a new product, seeing their faith and passion for a vehicle we have built is a special feeling.”
Davey highlighted the company’s rapid development timeline. “While Speedster defies convention, so too has our journey to get here – we’ve managed to deliver a dynamic demonstrator in just six months.”
He described this as an illustration of Longbow’s “speed of lightness” approach.
Longbow was founded in 2023 by Davey, Jenny Keisu, and Mark Tapscott. The founding team brings experience from Tesla, Lucid, BYD, and the electric marine sector.
The company’s focus on lightweight construction and driver engagement positions it in the growing market for performance-focused electric vehicles.
