Mazda announced UK pricing for its 6e fastback sedan, positioning the Tesla Model 3 competitor at £38,995 for the base Takumi trim. Both available versions – Takumi and Takumi Plus – come in under £40,000.

The sleek fastback launched in Europe during 2025 but required right-hand-drive production before reaching UK customers.

UK buyers get an updated powertrain that differs from European specifications. While European markets offer either a 68.8kWh LFP or 80kWh NCM battery, UK models feature a 78kWh LFP battery designed for improved range and faster charging.

Range reaches 348 miles on a full charge.

DC fast charging operates at 195kW, enabling 10-80% charging in 24 minutes. The rear-mounted motor delivers 254bhp and 214lb ft of torque – the same unit used in higher-spec European models.

Mazda claims 0-62mph acceleration in 7.9 seconds.

The entry-level Mazda 6e Takumi includes 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, panoramic sunroof and multi-zone climate control. Interior materials feature black or stone-colored artificial leather.

Takumi Plus models start at £39,995 and upgrade to tan Nappa leather with artificial suede accents.

Interior Design Shifts Away from Mazda’s Traditional Approach

The cabin emphasizes large touchscreens over physical controls – reflecting the partnership with Chinese automaker Changan. Standard equipment includes a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.

An augmented reality head-up display complements the screen-heavy layout.

Later this year, the CX-6e SUV will join the 6e sedan to complete Mazda’s initial EV lineup. The crossover uses the same Changan platform and 78kWh battery system as its sedan counterpart.

Expected range for the CX-6e exceeds 300 miles, targeting competitors like the Tesla Model Y and VW ID.4.

“With a nod to the popularity of the Mazda6, the Mazda 6e is a real statement of intent for the future and illustrates how Mazda can bring great design, technology and style to battery electric vehicles,” said Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK’s managing director.

Thomson emphasized the value proposition of keeping both trim levels under £40,000 while maintaining extensive standard equipment across the range.

The 6e represents Mazda’s partnership strategy for entering the competitive electric sedan market, leveraging Changan’s EV expertise while maintaining Mazda’s design language and brand positioning.
