Mazda has revealed the interior of its all-electric EZ-60 SUV at the Shanghai motor show, following the exterior preview shown earlier this month.
The EZ-60’s cabin features a massive 26-inch infotainment screen that spans the dashboard width. Drivers will benefit from a head-up display showing critical information like speed and remaining range. The interior showcases purple ambient lighting that matches the exterior paint, a two-spoke steering wheel with Mazda’s updated font, and a distinctive black, white, and purple color scheme.
Carnewschina.com reports the EZ-60 will include a 21-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system.
Rear passengers get their own touchscreen for climate and entertainment controls.
For improved aerodynamics, Mazda has replaced traditional door mirrors with slim cameras that display images on screens positioned under the A-pillars.
Mazda remains tight-lipped about most technical specifications. The company has only confirmed the EZ-60 will feature a 47:53 weight distribution and achieve approximately 373 miles of range on China’s CLTC test cycle.
The EZ-60 is being developed through a partnership between Mazda and Chinese manufacturer Changan. This Tesla Model Y competitor will share its foundation with the Changan Deepal S07 SUV.
For context, the Changan S07 comes equipped with an 80kWh battery and a 214bhp rear-mounted motor, delivering up to 295 miles of range on the European WLTP cycle. Its battery supports 93kW charging, allowing a 30-80% charge in approximately 35 minutes.
Range-Extender Version Also Unveiled
At Shanghai, Mazda also introduced a range-extender (REX) hybrid version of the EZ-60. This variant combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 31.7kWh lithium-ion-phosphate battery to deliver over 621 miles of total range.
Like the full-electric model, the hybrid EZ-60 uses rear-wheel drive. Mazda highlights that the REX achieves a perfect 50:50 weight distribution – the same balance found in the company’s MX-5 sports car.
