Mercedes has revealed the interior of its upcoming all-electric C-Class ahead of Monday’s official launch event in South Korea. The luxury automaker shared details of what’s expected to be called the C-Class with EQ Technology just days before the April 20 unveiling.

This marks the first time Stuttgart’s compact executive sedan will be available with an electric-only powertrain in its sixth generation.

The electric C-Class features a massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that spans the entire dashboard width. Mercedes has designed the cabin as largely buttonless – just a row of tactile switches sits next to the wireless charging pad below the enormous display.

Platform and Range

The C-Class EV shares its interior design and underpinnings with the all-electric GLC SUV. Both vehicles use Mercedes’ 800V MB.EA architecture, which the company says will deliver over 450 miles of range.

Mercedes boss Ola Källenius called the cabin “a new benchmark for quality, craftsmanship and comfort.”

“This latest car is the most spacious and most intelligent C-Class ever.”

The all-electric C-Class becomes only the world’s second car with an interior certified by the Vegan Society.

Interior Features and Materials

Mercedes describes the cabin design as featuring “striking geometrics paired with a bold use of metal, light, and various materials.” Buyers can choose between vegan leather or optional Nappa leather.

The front seats include four-way electro-pneumatic lumbar support that “adapts the backrest to the natural curvature of the spine,” according to Mercedes. The seats also offer heating, ventilation and massage functions.

Sound insulation has been enhanced throughout the cabin. Mercedes used specially refined electric motors and an automatic dehumidifier to create what it calls an “exceptionally quiet” and “cocooning atmosphere.”

Top-tier versions come equipped with a Burmeister 4D Surround Sound system. The setup includes bass-transmitting transducers built into the seats, letting passengers physically feel the music.

An optional Sky Control panoramic roof features 162 illuminated three-pointed stars.

Pricing and Competition

Mercedes hasn’t announced pricing ahead of Monday’s launch. Industry observers expect the electric C-Class to start around £50,000 – positioning it directly against BMW’s new i3 sedan, which offers 559 miles of range.

The official launch will take place Monday, April 20 in South Korea.
