Hived orders 11 electric Mercedes trucks for UK delivery network

Hived announced the purchase of nine Mercedes eActros 600 and two eActros 400 electric heavy goods vehicles to expand its all-electric UK delivery network.

The company remains the UK’s only logistics provider operating exclusively electric vehicles for both middle mile and final delivery operations. Middle mile routes — connecting retailer warehouses to local delivery hubs — typically span 200 to 400 miles.

The eActros 600’s 600kWh battery delivers a minimum 301-mile range per charge.

“This is a major moment for the logistics industry,” said Hived co-founder and chief product officer Mathias Krieger. “In an industry where the status quo is to run a mixed fleet at best, Hived is the first delivery company to operate an all-electric delivery network across the middle and final delivery mile. With the eActros, we continue to redefine what a modern delivery company looks like with our expanded electric middle mile capacity.”

Hived plans to build its own megawatt charging network at hubs in West London, the Midlands and Manchester over the next 12 months. These chargers will boost the eActros 600 from 20% to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.

“Hived’s commitment to end-to-end, all electric delivery service is a great example of how switching to electric trucks can improve the sustainability of any company, particularly in the delivery sector,” said James Venables, Daimler Truck UK’s future sustainability head. “This progressive, future-focussed company is the ideal partner for us and the eActros.”

The announcement follows Amazon’s record-breaking order of more than 200 eActros 600s in January 2025, with over 140 vehicles destined for UK operations. The eActros, launched in 2023, earned the International Truck of the Year 2025 award among other industry recognitions.
