Mercedes has opened order books for its entry-level GLC 250 Sport, bringing the electric SUV’s starting price down to £55,495.
The rear-wheel-drive Mercedes GLC 250 Sport sits alongside the all-wheel-drive GLC 400 4Matic, which starts at £60,350.
The new base model delivers 389 miles of range and hits 62mph in 5.9 seconds. It’s powered by a single 349bhp electric motor paired with an 85kWh battery. Top speed is 130mph.
That’s slightly less performance than the 400 4Matic. The higher-spec model makes 482bhp from its twin-motor setup and goes 406 miles on a charge thanks to its larger 94kWh battery.
At £55,495, the GLC 250 Sport undercuts the Volvo EX60 by more than £1,300 – and delivers 10 more miles of range than the Swedish competitor’s 379-mile capability.
Fast Charging
Both GLC models use 800V electrical architecture, which enables charging speeds up to 320kW. That means a 10%-80% charge takes just 22 minutes at compatible ultra-rapid chargers.
The GLC 250 isn’t limited to Sport trim. Mercedes offers AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus, and Premier Edition variants.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, panoramic sunroof, auto-dipping LED headlights, heated seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, and reversing camera. Driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist come standard.
Display Options
Sport grade gets the MBUX Superscreen – three separate displays behind glass measuring 10.3 inches, 14 inches, and 14 inches for passenger entertainment.
Step up to AMG Line and you’ll get the Hyperscreen – a single 39.1-inch display stretching across the entire dashboard width.
AMG Line brings the illuminated grille with 942 backlit dots and illuminated “stars” in the panoramic roof. It also adds AMG styling, adaptive micro-LED headlights, sports seats, keyless entry with flush door handles, 360-degree camera, and Burmester sound system.
AMG Line Premium Plus upgrades the stereo further and adds massage seats plus projection headlights. Higher trims include heated rear seats, additional driver assistance, head-up display, and 21-inch wheels.
The range tops out at £73,350 for the Premier Edition.
Optional Packages
A Refinement package adds rear-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension. The suspension system uses data from other Mercedes vehicles on the road to prepare for upcoming road conditions.
The Sustainability package comes free on Sport grade and provides a Vegan Society-approved interior.
The GLC joins Mercedes’ expanding electric lineup, which includes the CLA, GLB SUV, all-electric C-Class, the 1169bhp AMG GT, and a new A-Class coming in 2028.
