MG will unveil two new electric vehicles at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this July, including what the company describes as a high-performance model with advanced technology.
The brand plans to showcase its Cyber X SUV and a new Cyberster Black variant during their European debuts at the July 10-13 event.
New Concepts Under Wraps
MG hasn’t released specific details about the new models yet. The company says both are concepts designed to demonstrate its design capabilities and “continuing sense of adventure.”
One model will deliver what MG calls “phenomenal” acceleration during its run up Goodwood’s hill climb course.
This suggests a high-performance variant that could complement the existing Cyberster roadster. It’s unclear whether this represents an entirely new model or the dynamic debut of the hard-top Cyberster GTS – which MG confirmed for production earlier this year.
The 429bhp MG4 XPower will also tackle the hill climb, featuring special livery that pays tribute to the iconic MG Metro 6R4.
Cyber X Makes European Debut
The MG Cyber X concept will appear in Europe for the first time at Goodwood. This compact electric SUV represents a new design direction for the brand.
The Cyber X features what MG describes as a rugged 4×4 appearance. Despite its tough exterior, the company positions this as a “youthful” vehicle aimed at urban exploration in the B-SUV segment.
“We’re looking forward to introducing the original Cyber X and elegant Cyberster Black,” said Josef Kaban, MG’s vice president of design. “MG has a tradition of creating emotive cars that stand-out from the crowd and we’re passionate about continuing this work as well as exploring how we might take the brand in some new, unexpected directions.”
The Cyberster Black introduces a deep black paint finish with an all-black interior and contrasting chrome trim elements on the two-seater roadster.
The Duke of Richmond, who founded the Festival of Speed, welcomed MG’s return to the event.
“After officially celebrating their centenary with us in some style last year, MG will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with two important, new production models as well some outstanding concept cars which we’re excited to be hosting,” he said.
The Duke noted that previewing future automotive design and technical innovation remains a key part of the Goodwood experience.
