MGS9 PHEV Price Confirmed Ahead of Spring Arrival image

MG will bring its first seven-seater SUV to UK showrooms this spring, with the MGS9 starting under £35,000.

The plug-in hybrid SUV targets rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq, Peugeot 5008, and Kia Sorento with pricing that significantly undercuts the competition. Entry-level models start at £34,205, while top-spec variants reach £36,945.

The MGS9 arrives in UK dealerships at the end of March.

David Allison, MG UK’s director of product and planning, confirmed the launch timeline. He’d previously outlined the company’s seven-seater plans to industry publications.

“The launch of the MGS9 PHEV represents a significant milestone for MG, marking our entry into the seven-seat SUV segment and further strengthening our position in the large SUV market,” Allison said.

The MGS9 uses the same plug-in hybrid setup that powers the smaller MG HS PHEV. A turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine pairs with a 135kW electric motor and 24.7kWh battery pack.

Combined output reaches 295bhp.

The battery provides up to 62 miles of electric-only driving – less than the HS’s 75-mile range, but MG notes the MGS9’s larger size affects efficiency.

Interior and Practicality

MG designed the MGS9 for genuine seven-seat capability across three rows. Boot space measures 332 litres with all seats up, expanding to over 1,000 litres in five-seat configuration.

Standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated massage seats, and tri-zone air conditioning. Full specification details will be released in the coming weeks.

The SUV’s dimensions exceed the MG HS in both length and height, giving it more road presence and interior space.

“The all-new MGS9 PHEV delivers enhanced presence and versatility, offering the flexibility of a third row to meet the evolving needs of modern families and lifestyle-driven customers,” Allison added.

MG’s pricing strategy positions the MGS9 well below established French, Czech, and Korean competitors in the seven-seat plug-in hybrid segment.

The launch expands MG’s SUV lineup and marks the brand’s first entry into the large family SUV market.
