Dacia launched its updated Spring electric car with pricing starting at £12,240 after applying the company’s new in-house grant program.
The revised Spring maintains its position as the UK’s cheapest electric vehicle. With Dacia’s £3,750 Electric Car Grant applied, it’s now the most affordable new car in Britain regardless of fuel type.
The grant brings the starting price down from £15,990 – a strategy that positions Dacia ahead of budget competitors in the growing EV market.
Power Upgrades Across the Range
Two new motors deliver more power for 2026. The base Expression 70 gets a 69bhp motor that exceeds the previous top-spec model’s output.
The higher-trim Extreme 100 features a 99bhp motor, giving it an edge over rivals like the Leapmotor T03.
Dacia officials say both motors provide better acceleration compared to the outgoing model’s performance.
The charging system gets faster too – a new 40kW charger can power the 26.8kWh battery from 20-80% in 29 minutes.
Mechanical Improvements
Engineers revised the suspension with new springs and shock absorbers for 2026. The Spring gets stronger brakes and anti-roll bars for the first time.
These changes aim to create a more stable driving experience.
Dacia’s positioning this as part of their plan to make annual improvements to their budget EV lineup.
Trim Levels and Equipment
The Expression 70 starts at £12,240 with the grant applied. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, electric front windows, and rear parking sensors.
Safety features cover traffic sign recognition and lane keep assist, plus a digital instrument display.
The Extreme Electric 100 costs £1,000 more and adds the higher-output motor. It gets copper styling accents, electric rear windows, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
That trim also includes a reversing camera, front parking sensors, and vehicle-to-load capability for powering external devices.
Orders open immediately with first deliveries scheduled for spring 2026.
