Citroen has unveiled the second generation C5 Aircross, featuring an all-electric variant capable of traveling more than 400 miles on a single charge.
Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform – shared with the Peugeot E-3008 and Vauxhall Grandland – the new C5 Aircross will offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrain options.
The electric C5 Aircross comes in two configurations. The standard range model pairs a 73kWh battery with a 207bhp motor for up to 323 miles of range. The extended range version increases power to 227bhp and uses Stellantis’ larger 97kWh battery, delivering up to 422 miles of range – positioning it among the longest-range EVs currently available.
Three driving modes let drivers prioritize efficiency or performance, while three levels of regenerative braking help recover energy.
The vehicle comes standard with 11kW AC charging capability. 22kW charging and vehicle-to-load functionality will be added in 2026. DC fast charging at 160kW can replenish the larger battery from 20-80% in 27 minutes.
Hybrid options include a full hybrid model and a 192bhp plug-in hybrid offering up to 53 miles of electric-only driving.
The new C5 Aircross stretches 15cm longer than its predecessor, adopting sharper styling elements similar to the E-C3 and E-C3 Aircross. Citroen maintains the traditional boxy SUV shape to maximize interior space rather than following the coupe-SUV trend.
Inside, Citroen introduces a ‘Sofa Design’ concept with a fabric-coated dashboard featuring 10-inch digital instruments. Higher trim levels add a head-up display.
The centerpiece is a large portrait “Cascade” touchscreen – the biggest ever in a Citroen – that flows into the center console. It displays fixed elements for key information and climate controls alongside a customizable panel for navigation and media. The system supports simultaneous wireless Android and Apple phone connections.
The C5 Aircross includes Citroen’s patented Advanced Comfort seat and suspension technology. The 6cm longer wheelbase creates 5cm more rear knee room than the previous model, with nearly 7cm additional headroom and 651 liters of cargo space.
Set to launch in the second half of 2025, pricing hasn’t been announced. The C5 Aircross will likely position between the £36,000 Grandland and £45,000 E-3008 when it arrives later this summer.
