Cupra has updated its Tavascan electric SUV with Android-powered software and introduced a new entry-level 58kWh battery option that’s expected to lower the starting price below the current £47,350.
The automaker hasn’t announced official pricing for the updated model. But the smaller battery pack should cost less than the existing 77kWh version that currently serves as the base trim.
New Battery and Performance Specs
The 58kWh battery pairs with a 187bhp electric motor to deliver around 270 miles of range.
Charging speeds remain competitive – the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes using DC fast charging.
This gives drivers a more affordable entry point into Cupra’s sporty SUV lineup without sacrificing too much range for daily driving needs.
Android Integration and Interior Updates
The biggest change inside is the switch to Google’s Android Automotive operating system. This replaces Cupra’s previous infotainment setup with software that’s proven popular across the industry.
The Android-based system is already used by Polestar, Volvo, and Renault Group vehicles.
Cupra’s sister brand Skoda will adopt the same Google OS for its upcoming Elroq and Enyaq electric models.
The driver gets a much larger 10.25-inch instrument cluster – up from the previous 5.3-inch display. These changes mirror updates already made to the new Cupra Born hatchback.
Physical buttons return to the steering wheel, replacing the haptic controls that some drivers found frustrating to use while driving.
Smart Climate Features
Electric smart air vents represent one of the Tavascan’s more innovative features. The system activates automatically when it detects the key approaching the vehicle.
Before you even get inside, the car pre-circulates air and adjusts vent direction based on where people are sitting and the sun’s position.
Voice commands through the infotainment system let you control the air vents without taking your hands off the wheel.
The technology aims to improve comfort while reducing energy waste – important for maximizing electric range.
Additional Tech and Options
Digital keys now come standard, allowing smartphone-based vehicle access. Vehicle-to-Load capability lets the Tavascan power external devices using its battery.
One-pedal driving mode is available across the range. Higher-trim models with the 77kWh battery get launch control for improved acceleration.
New options include:
- Midnight Black paint finish
- 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system
Complete Range Breakdown
The updated Tavascan lineup now includes three powertrain options. The entry-level 58kWh model targets buyers wanting lower monthly payments without giving up essential range.
77kWh single-motor versions produce 282bhp and deliver more than 350 miles per charge.
The range-topping 77kWh dual-motor setup generates 335bhp and hits 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds for buyers wanting maximum performance.
All versions benefit from the new Android software and updated interior – ensuring the technology experience stays consistent regardless of which battery size you choose.
