Jeep has unveiled the third-generation Compass with all-electric powertrains for the first time, positioning the C-segment SUV to compete against the Ford Explorer, Skoda Enyaq, and Peugeot E-3008.

The 2025 Compass will offer three electric versions. Two front-wheel-drive models will be available, with the entry-level producing 210bhp. The range-topping all-wheel-drive variant delivers 370bhp through a specialized rear motor that adds 66bhp of peak power and up to 171lb ft of additional torque.

This AWD system generates 2,286lb ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 14:1 rear reducer, enabling the Compass to climb 20% slopes even with zero front-wheel traction.

Battery options include a 97kWh pack delivering up to 403 miles of range and a smaller 73kWh unit. The Compass supports 160kW DC fast charging, allowing 20-80% charge in 30 minutes, with 22kW AC charging standard across the lineup.

Platform and Design

Built on the STLA Medium platform shared with the Peugeot E-3008, Vauxhall Grandland and Citroen C5 Aircross, the new Compass maintains visual connections to its predecessor while incorporating elements from the compact Avenger.

Jeep’s signature seven-slat grille remains, alongside boxy wheelarches and square feature lines.

The SUV features scratch-resistant lower body cladding and reinforced bumpers designed for easy replacement after minor impacts – part of Jeep’s strategy to position the Compass as a more rugged alternative in its segment.

Ground clearance stands at 200mm for two-wheel-drive models, with four-wheel-drive versions offering additional height and 470mm wading capability. Short overhangs improve approach and departure angles compared to its Stellantis siblings.

Interior and Technology

The 2025 Compass is 15cm longer than the outgoing model, providing an extra 5.5cm of rear legroom and increasing boot space by 45 litres to 550 litres total.

Inside, Jeep has installed a new infotainment system featuring a 16-inch central touchscreen paired with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional technology includes a head-up display, semi-automatic lane change functionality, and matrix LED headlights.

Orders for the First Edition trim – equipped with the 210bhp motor offering up to 310 miles of range – will open this summer, with deliveries expected in the final quarter of 2024.
