Skoda has launched the Elroq SE L 85, a new version of its electric SUV that brings the model’s largest battery to a lower price point. The Czech manufacturer also confirmed that both the Elroq and Enyaq have qualified for the UK’s Electric Car Grant.
The newest Elroq variant features a 77kWh battery – the biggest available in the range – delivering up to 355 miles of range. It’s equipped with 175kW fast-charging capability, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.
Previously, this larger battery was exclusive to higher-priced variants.
The Edition 85 and Sportline 85 grades started at £38,660 on-the-road. The new SE L 85 undercuts those models significantly, starting at £37,060 OTR.
Electric Car Grant Approval Cuts Prices Further
Skoda’s qualification for the UK Electric Car Grant reduces prices across both model lines. The ECG provides a £1,500 discount, bringing the Elroq SE L 85’s price down to £35,560 OTR.
With the grant applied, the entry-level Elroq SE 50 now starts from £30,210. This base model includes a 52kWh battery and offers 233 miles of range.
The most expensive ECG-eligible Elroq is the SportLine 85 at £40,110.
However, the performance-focused Elroq vRS doesn’t qualify for the grant. Its price remains unchanged at £46,560 OTR.
Enyaq Models Also Benefit
Certain Enyaq trim levels qualify for the £1,500 discount as well. The SE L 60 starts from £37,510 OTR with the grant applied, while the Edition 60 begins at £38,610.
The recently-introduced Enyaq vRS is exempt from the grant. All Enyaq Coupe models are also ineligible.
Matthew Bowden, Skoda UK’s head, commented on the announcement:
“We are delighted to confirm that our award-winning models qualify for the Government’s Electric Car Grant. At Skoda, our commitment has always been to put our customers at the heart of everything we do – designing cars that meet their evolving needs and expectations.”
He added that the initiative allows more people to experience Skoda’s electric range and reflects the brand’s sustainability goals.
Both the Enyaq and Elroq have received critical recognition since their launches. The Enyaq arrived in 2021, while the Elroq debuted earlier this year.
The models have won numerous awards including Car of the Year, Best Value Electric Car, and Best Family Electric SUV.
