Octopus Energy launched its Octopus Fleet package this week – a comprehensive solution designed to help businesses transition their vehicle fleets to electric with minimal administrative headaches.
The new service operates within the Octopus Electroverse platform and offers four customizable smart solutions that companies can mix and match based on their specific needs.
Fleet managers get access to streamlined cost control and charging data through a single monthly invoice, eliminating the paperwork chaos that often comes with managing electric vehicle operations.
Access to Global Charging Network
The Octopus Electroverse connects drivers to 1.3 million EV charging points across 50 countries through a single mobile app and map interface.
Companies switching from petrol and diesel vehicles can use the Octopus Fleet Charging Card for seamless public charging. The system handles everything from finding available charging stations to processing payments automatically.
The Octopus Payments Card takes things further – allowing one-tap payments for charging sessions and other business expenses. This eliminates the need for drivers to use personal cards and submit expense reports later.
Home and Depot Charging Solutions
Octopus Fleet includes a Home Charging Reimbursement program that lets drivers charge their company vehicles at home and get paid back monthly.
The process is straightforward: plug the vehicle into a compatible home charger and select whether it’s a business or personal charge.
At month’s end, the linked account receives automatic reimbursement for business charging costs.
Companies can also install EV chargers at their depots, along with rooftop solar panels and battery storage systems to reduce charging costs further.
Industry Context and Leadership Perspective
The launch comes as nearly one in four fleet vehicles are now fully electric, according to industry data.
Matt Davies, Octopus Electroverse director, emphasized the service’s flexibility in addressing different business models.
“Choosing an electric vehicle is easier than ever, but every business operates differently, and we’ve seen that it can be a challenge to scale up electrification efforts, and to make the EV switch a no-brainer for drivers,” Davies said.
He added that Octopus Fleet offers “a ‘menu’ of simple products that make sense regardless of how a fleet operates – with great options across public, home and depot charging, and for keeping your existing fleet running.”
The service targets businesses looking to electrify their operations without getting bogged down in the technical complexities of charging infrastructure and payment processing.
