Ohme has launched a new MultiCar function in its app to help households with multiple electric vehicles manage their charging more efficiently.

The smart charger maker based in Cork developed the feature to allow EV owners to quickly switch between vehicles that share the same charging point.

Users can now program vehicle-specific charging schedules for each car and track charging costs separately – particularly useful for those with both personal and company vehicles.

Previously, owners of multiple EVs had to manually adjust charging schedules or charge levels when connecting different vehicles. The new system creates separate profiles ensuring each car receives the appropriate charge at the optimal time and tariff.

The function also lets drivers view charging costs for each vehicle on daily, weekly and monthly bases – critical for expense claims related to home charging of company cars.

“Innovation and constant progression are core values at Ohme,” said David Watson, Ohme CEO. “This new MultiCar function in our app is a great example of those and a major step forward for the growing numbers of households with more than one EV.”

Watson added that the feature “just underlines how Ohme always strives to ensure that no driver is left behind in the e-mobility transition.”

Ohme remains the only home EV charging provider whose chargers have been compatible with all UK energy tariffs since launch. This includes the latest dynamic tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charger Anytime.

The company serves as the official home charger partner for several major automotive manufacturers, including:

  • Hyundai
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Smart
  • Volvo
  • Volkswagen Group
