SG Fleet has named Ohme as its official home EV charging partner, creating a new bundled offering for one of the UK’s largest fleet management companies.

The partnership allows SG Fleet customers to include the cost of an Ohme home charger in their monthly EV rental payments. This eliminates the upfront payment that typically comes with charger installation.

Ohme’s pricing starts at £949 for the entry-level ePod charger with installation included.

The top-tier Home Pro model begins at £999. Both options can now be spread across the rental term rather than paid upfront.

SG Fleet will recommend Ohme chargers for all electrified vehicles in its salary sacrifice program. The company reports EV enrollment in salary sacrifice schemes has grown over 400% since 2021.

Addressing Installation Barriers

The bundled approach targets one of the main obstacles to EV adoption – the initial cost of home charging infrastructure.

“As the move to electric vehicles continues at pace, ensuring our customers have access to all the support they need for a smooth transition is key,” explains Peter Davenport, SG Fleet managing director. “Offering innovative solutions such as our bundled offer with Ohme is a crucial part of that transition.”

Davenport emphasized the company’s role in facilitating business mobility transitions.

“Our role is to keep businesses and their people moving and that means helping them make the switch to electric as seamlessly as possible. By including Ohme chargers in our salary sacrifice package, we’re helping to overcome one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption.”

Fleet Sector Focus

Ohme director Peter McDonald highlighted the partnership’s significance for business drivers making the switch to electric.

“This collaboration with SG Fleet further underlines Ohme’s commitment to the fleet sector, as more businesses and company drivers switch to EVs.”

McDonald praised SG Fleet’s innovative approach to bundling services.

“Furthermore, SG Fleet’s bundled package for EV drivers shows the innovative thinking that it is willing to bring to the sector. We look forward to working with them and helping more business drivers with the e-mobility transition.”

The partnership comes as fleet operators seek comprehensive solutions for EV transitions that address both vehicle provision and charging infrastructure needs.

Cost savings from home charging remain substantial. The average UK driver covers 6,800 miles annually. Using an off-peak tariff of 7.5p per kilowatt hour, annual driving costs would total £119 with home charging.

That compares to £437.41 using a standard variable tariff of 25.73p per kWh – highlighting the importance of both having home charging capability and securing appropriate energy deals.
