Geely has launched pre-orders for its first UK-bound vehicle – the all-electric EX5 SUV. The Chinese automaker, which owns Volvo and Lotus, is now entering the British market as a standalone brand.

The EX5 targets the competitive C-segment SUV market, competing directly with the Skoda Enyaq, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Pricing starts at £31,990 for the entry-level SE model. Buyers can choose between two battery options – a 49.5kWh unit or a larger 60.2kWh pack that delivers up to 267 miles of WLTP range.

Charging speeds reach 160kW on DC fast chargers. The EX5 can charge from 30-80% in just 20 minutes.

Design and Features

Geely says the EX5’s design draws inspiration from ancient Chinese architecture and furniture. The front-wheel-drive SUV comes well-equipped across all trim levels.

Standard features include automatic LED headlights, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, and rear privacy glass. Depending on the model, buyers get either 18-inch or 19-inch low-drag alloy wheels.

Tech features are extensive. The EX5 includes vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle power supply capabilities, allowing owners to power external devices or charge other EVs.

Interior comfort gets attention with ventilated and massaging front seats, 256-color ambient lighting, and dual-zone climate control. An anti-viral air filtration system cleans cabin air.

Apple CarPlay comes standard, though Android Auto requires a third-party add-on.

Partnership with Andersen

Geely has partnered with British home charging specialist Andersen for its UK launch. Customers who order an EX5 before October 23 receive a complimentary home wallbox.

The free 7kW Andersen A3 charger features Cheltenham Graphite metal finish with Geely badging. An Andersen-trained technician handles installation at no extra cost.

“Geely Auto UK is committed to making its mark in the demanding UK market. We believe we have the right cars to do that but we want to make sure we offer the best service to our customers across the whole ownership experience,” said Mike Yang, Geely UK general manager.

“We’re proud to be working with Andersen as its chargers reflect our own values and will provide our first customers with the best charging experience.”

David Martell, Andersen’s CEO, emphasized the partnership’s strategic value.

“Partnering with a leading automotive company such as Geely Auto is an honour. With the EX5, Geely is clearly focused on delivering a high-quality EV that provides a premium user experience. We believe this focus on quality and design is a perfect match for the Andersen A3.”

The EX5 comes with comprehensive warranty coverage – 6+2 years or 125,000 miles for both vehicle and battery. Additional perks include:

  • One year of 24/7 roadside assistance
  • Two years of 4G connectivity
  • Free home charger installation for early orders

Geely’s UK entry represents another major Chinese automaker establishing a direct presence in the British EV market, joining brands like BYD and emerging competitors such as Leapmotor.
