Source has joined Ovo Energy’s charging network, giving Ovo customers registration-free access to Source’s charging hubs across the UK. The partnership connects Ovo’s customer base with Source’s expanding ultra-rapid charging infrastructure.
Ovo Energy customers can access Source’s network using an Ovo Charge card or the Ovo Charge app. The deal aims to address public charging issues like reliability and billing complexity.
Source has set uptimes above 99% and uses AI monitoring to manage its charging sites.
The agreement extends beyond individual customers to fleet managers and drivers. TotalEnergies-backed Source is targeting up to 20% of the UK and Ireland’s ultra-rapid charging market in coming years.
Source is developing a network of 300 hubs equipped largely with 150kW chargers across both countries.
“By integrating with OVO’s established platform, we’re removing barriers and ensuring more drivers can experience Source’s stress-free charging,” said Alice Aprile-Smith, Source’s head of partnerships and business development. “Whether it’s a fleet manager tracking costs through one monthly invoice or a taxi driver needing reliable rapid charging, this partnership delivers the accessibility and convenience that drives EV adoption.”
The partnership allows customers to access charging without changing existing habits. Ovo’s electric vehicles director Alex Thwaites explained the benefits for drivers seeking reliable, high-speed charging options.
“Partnering with Source means our customers can enjoy faster charging without changing their charging habits. By adding Source’s premium ultra-rapid hubs to the OVO Charge network, we’re giving drivers even greater access to reliable, high-speed charge points across the UK.”
Pricing Structure
Source currently charges 69p per kilowatt hour for rapid charging and 49p per kWh for fast charging. This contrasts with Ovo’s Charge Anytime home charging tariffs, which offer prices as low as 7p per kWh – one of the more affordable home charging options available.
To encourage EV adoption, Ovo is offering buyers of new all-electric Volkswagens up to 30,000 free miles over three years when they switch to the Charge Anytime plan. The promotion targets UK motorists considering the transition from traditional vehicles to electric.
The partnership represents Source’s strategy to expand access while Ovo continues building its charging ecosystem for existing customers.
