Perseus to Launch Electric SUV in Europe by 2027
Perseus, a new British-based start-up, has announced plans to bring its first all-electric vehicle to European markets by late 2027. The company’s debut will be a performance-focused compact SUV positioned to compete with the Porsche Macan.
The company has revealed limited details about the vehicle but confirmed it will be built on an EV platform from “a prominent European OEM group.”
Perseus is working with an Italian design and engineering house “for interior and exterior styling, pre-concept development, prototyping, serial engineering, testing and validation requirements.”
Following industry trends toward collaboration and cost reduction in the EV sector, Perseus will partner with a European contract manufacturer to build its first model.
The company also plans to integrate advanced technology through a partnership with an automotive software firm specializing in Human Machine Interface and AI for its infotainment systems.
Perseus will adopt a direct-to-consumer sales model similar to Polestar, combining online sales with physical dealerships. Service and maintenance will leverage the EV platform provider’s existing European network.

El Bakkali added: “Crucially, our development and commercialisation strategy is also clear. Perseus already has agreements in principle with a European OEM group to licence a cutting-edge EV platform and a leading Italian styling house to meet all design and engineering standards. We have also formed partnerships with a world-leading automotive software specialist, and a European contract manufacturer to ensure the first Perseus SUV model will reach customers by late 2027.”
The company plans to reveal more details about its SUV, strategic partnerships, and senior leadership team later in 2025. Perseus notes its leadership already includes experts from Jaguar Land Rover, Lotus, Bentley, and INEOS Automotive.
