Xpeng has partnered with Plugsurfing to give its European customers access to more than 940,000 charging points across the continent.
Plugsurfing connects 500 charge point operators in 27 countries. The collaboration integrates Plugsurfing’s Drive API interface into Xpeng’s systems to enhance the charging experience for European users.
Xpeng drivers can now view real-time charging data including station availability, empty ports, and pricing. Payment can be made with one click through the Xpeng app or via a Plugsurfing charge card that comes free with new vehicle purchases.
The service bills users only for electricity consumed and parking fees – with no additional charges.
Plugsurfing’s API also enables route planning around available charging stations and includes voice recognition functionality.
Xpeng entered the European market in 2021, starting in Norway before expanding to 16 additional countries. The Chinese manufacturer has received several accolades since its European debut.
Its P7 sedan was named ‘Best Electric Car of 2024’ at Spain’s ‘Electric Car of the Year’ awards. The G9 SUV earned ‘SUV of the Year and Family Car of the Year’ at Denmark’s ‘Electric Car of the Year’ awards in 2023.
In the UK, Xpeng currently offers only the G6 SUV. The mid-sized electric vehicle comes with a five-year (75,000-mile) vehicle warranty and an eight-year (100,000-mile) battery warranty.
The G6 is available with either a 66kWh battery providing 270 miles of range or an 87.5kWh battery offering 354 miles.
Starting at £39,990, the G6 falls below the UK government’s new Expensive Car Supplement threshold, which applies to EVs priced over £40,000.
