Polestar has refreshed its Polestar 2 for the 2026 model year with several updates including a new ‘Dune’ color option and a consolidated ‘Prime’ option pack.
The Polestar 2, first launched in late 2020 as the Swedish brand’s first purpose-built EV after splitting from Volvo, has received incremental improvements to maintain competitiveness against the BMW i4, Tesla Model 3, and Mercedes EQE in the all-electric D-segment.
The new Dune color replaces Jupiter, offering a deeper sandy tone. The Prime pack bundles the previously separate Pilot, Plus, and Climate packages while adding tinted rear windows and a tinted fastback.
Polestar has also introduced its lightest-ever 20-inch aluminum wheels as an optional exterior upgrade.
Interior updates include Charcoal upholstery with optional Black Ash trim. A Polestar-exclusive 1,350-watt Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 14 speakers is available as an upgrade.
The standard infotainment system now features a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that speeds up app downloads and improves touchscreen responsiveness.
Despite these refinements, the Polestar 2 maintains its distinctive design that has made it popular among EV buyers.
The 70kWh battery carries over from the previous model year, but the 2026 version adds Plug & Charge technology – first seen in the Polestar 3 SUV. This feature authenticates public charging stations through the Polestar app and in-car settings.
Polestar has been making waves since early 2025. In the US, the Geely-owned manufacturer offered Tesla owners discounts of up to $5,000 on the Polestar 3 for those dissatisfied with Elon Musk’s political statements.
In Sweden, the company launched three rugged ‘Arctic Circle’ editions of its 2, 3, and 4 models to compete in the F.A.T. ice race.
In the UK, Polestar expanded its charging network to over 6,000 units in March after partnering with providers including Ionity and Instavolt.
