The Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack traveled 330 miles (531 kilometres) on a single charge to win Norway’s El Prix range test, the world’s largest independent EV range evaluation.
The achievement placed the 2024 model just 5% below its official WLTP rating of 348 miles (561km). BYD’s Tang SUV, the next closest competitor, fell 9% short of its rated range.
The El Prix, conducted by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor magazine, evaluates real-world EV range against manufacturer claims twice yearly.
This winter’s test route challenged vehicles with wet, slippery conditions despite relatively mild temperatures between -2C and +5C. Starting in Oslo at 53 metres above sea level, the course climbed nearly 1,000 metres over 217 miles (350 km).
“Range is an important criterion for customers, and this result underlines that the Polestar 3 is a great choice for everybody seeking a luxury experience in an outstanding SUV,” said Polestar CEO Michael Loscheller. “We are developing our cars above the Arctic Circle in Sweden, so it’s no surprise for us that the Polestar 3 performs better than the competition in challenging conditions.”
The Polestar 3’s performance ranks as the second-best in El Prix history. BMW’s iX3 holds the overall efficiency record, achieving a range just 4% below its WLTP rating in 2021.
For 2025, Polestar introduced a Long Range Single Motor variant of the 3, featuring a 111kWh battery pack and 438-mile (706km) range rating.
The manufacturer currently offers seasonal pricing on the Polestar 3, with Long Range Single Motor models starting at £66,900, reduced from £69,900.
