Polestar 7 SUV Revealed as Polestar 5 Targets 2025 Launch

Polestar 7 SUV Revealed as Polestar 5 Targets 2025 Launch image

The Polestar 7 compact SUV will join the Swedish automaker’s expanding electric lineup, the company announced Thursday during its latest business update. This new model signals Polestar’s shift toward using a single shared architecture for its future vehicles.

Currently relying on various platforms from parent company Geely, Polestar’s looking to differentiate itself with more custom engineering and distinctive styling for upcoming models. Design chief Philipp Römers emphasized this direction, noting that like its siblings, the Polestar 7 will make its own striking visual statement.

The compact SUV will be built in Europe — a strategic move as the brand pushes to increase global sales by 30%-35% between 2025 and 2027.

Before the Polestar 7 arrives, the company has two other EVs in the pipeline. The Polestar 5 fastback is set to launch in late 2024, featuring 800-volt fast-charging capability and larger battery cells for extended range. This four-door model represents a significant technical advancement for the brand.

The automaker’s retail strategy combines direct sales with traditional dealership service centers. Despite market challenges, Polestar reported a 5.3% increase in global sales during Q4 2024, while new orders jumped 37.2%.

Plans for the Polestar 6 roadster remain on track for a 2026 release. Last July, the company previewed a high-performance version through its Concept BST demonstration vehicle.

To support its ambitious growth targets, Polestar will expand its retail presence by 75%. The brand’s evolving from sharing platforms with other Geely-owned manufacturers to developing more of its own specialized engineering solutions — though it hasn’t revealed a timeline for the Polestar 7’s debut.

“Polestar is known for its progressive design, with each car standing out and creating its own buzz—so too will Polestar 7,” Römers said.

The company’s expanding lineup reflects growing competition in the premium EV segment, where established luxury brands and emerging competitors are introducing new electric models at an accelerating pace.
