Polestar has expanded its Plug & Charge network to more than 28,000 charging stations across Europe and integrated Tesla Supercharger compatibility into its Polestar Charge app, according to company officials.

Simplified Charging Process

The Plug & Charge technology works like Tesla’s Supercharger system – it lets 2026 model-year Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 vehicles talk directly with charging stations and handle payment automatically.

The Polestar Charge app brings everything into one place. Drivers won’t need multiple payment methods or different apps for various charging networks.

Polestar 4 owners will get Plug & Charge through an Over-the-Air software update that’s coming soon.

Tesla Integration

Polestar is among the first manufacturers to fully integrate Tesla Superchargers into its own app. This gives Polestar drivers access to over 20,000 Tesla charging sites across more than 1,500 European locations.

The integration goes deeper than just payment processing.

Real-time availability for Supercharger stations now appears in Polestar’s Google Maps system. Drivers can plan routes and check if charging bays are available before they arrive.

Olivier Loedel, Polestar’s head of product software management, said the expansion creates significant value for customers.

“With Polestar Charge, we give our customers access to one of the biggest charging networks in Europe. By expanding Plug & Charge and fully integrating Tesla Superchargers, we’re improving our premium seamless charging experience even further.”

He added that the charging network integration with in-car navigation sets Polestar apart from competitors.

Network Scale and Pricing

The Polestar Charge network provides access to over one million charging points across Polestar’s European markets.

Members get 30% cheaper fast charging at more than 80,000 charging points operated by 42 different companies.

The network includes major operators beyond Tesla:

  • Ionity
  • Recharge
  • Total
  • Fastned
  • Allego

The Polestar Charge app is available through Apple App Store and Google Play. The subscription starts at £11.99 per month for discounted charging rates.

The expansion addresses one of the biggest concerns for EV drivers – finding reliable charging stations and dealing with multiple payment systems across different networks.
