Polestar is embracing winter adventure with rally-inspired versions of its entire electric vehicle lineup, transforming its sleek EVs into snow-ready machines.
The Swedish automaker’s arctic ambitions began in 2022 with the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle concept. Now, they’ve expanded the cold-weather treatment to include their SUV models — the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 — with all three vehicles making their first joint appearance Thursday.
These winter warriors aren’t just show cars. Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s head of driving dynamics and accomplished Swedish rally driver, helped develop the Arctic Circle variants. Each vehicle features a raised suspension, premium Öhlins dampers with three-way adjustment, and specialized OZ Racing wheels wrapped in studded Pirelli tires. Inside, they’re equipped with Recaro bucket seats, while powerful Stedi driving lights improve visibility in harsh conditions.
The modifications go beyond pure performance.
Each Arctic Circle model comes ready for winter adventures with practical additions like roof racks and snow shovels. The Polestar 3 takes things further with snow ladders and reinforced skid plates — features that could eventually make their way into Polestar’s accessories catalog, though the company hasn’t confirmed plans for an official Arctic Circle package.
These concepts arrive as Polestar expands its 2025 lineup. The original Polestar 2 — still manufactured in China — continues with a streamlined range, dropping its entry-level and longest-range versions. It’s joined by the American-built Polestar 3, which emphasizes performance efficiency to differentiate itself from its corporate cousin, the three-row Volvo EX90. The genre-defying Polestar 4, currently built in China, will add South Korean production later this year.
Winter sports enthusiasts can see these Arctic Circle concepts in person on Feb. 1 at the 2025 F.A.T. Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria. They’ll share the spotlight with Audi’s Q6 E-Tron Offroad concept — another EV ready to tackle challenging winter conditions.
