Porsche has unveiled its new Cayenne Electric, marking what the company calls “the beginning of a new era.” The electric SUV becomes Porsche’s most powerful production car ever made.
Two versions will launch simultaneously. The flagship Cayenne Turbo Electric starts at £130,900 and delivers 1,140 horsepower – that’s more power than the Taycan Turbo GT.
The Turbo Electric rockets from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds.
Performance Specifications
Both models use a two-motor all-wheel-drive system powered by a 113kWh battery pack. Range reaches up to 398 miles on a single charge.
The Cayenne Turbo Electric produces 845 horsepower during normal driving. Porsche’s “push to pass” button unlocks the full 1,140 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque for up to 10 seconds at a time.
With push to pass activated, the 2.5-tonne SUV hits 62mph in 2.5 seconds and reaches 124mph in 7.4 seconds. Top speed is 162mph.
That acceleration matches the 911 Turbo S and makes this the third-quickest Porsche available. Only the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo GT are faster at 2.4 and 2.2 seconds respectively.
The entry-level Cayenne Electric starts at £83,200. It delivers 402 horsepower normally, boosting to 416 horsepower in push-to-pass mode. The 0-62mph sprint takes 4.8 seconds with a 148mph top speed.
Porsche borrowed technology from its motorsport programs for the Turbo’s rear motor cooling system. The direct oil cooling keeps performance consistent during extended high-speed driving.
Energy recovery reaches Formula E levels with up to 600kW of regenerative braking power. Porsche estimates that 97% of everyday braking happens through motor regeneration alone – the friction brakes rarely engage.
Chassis and Technology
Every Cayenne Electric includes adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard equipment.
The Turbo adds Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Optional upgrades include Porsche’s Active Ride system with 48V anti-roll technology and four-wheel steering for sharper cornering response.
Charging happens at up to 400kW thanks to the 800V electrical architecture. The massive battery can charge from 10-80% in just 16 minutes under ideal conditions.
The Cayenne becomes the first production car offering wireless inductive charging at up to 11kW.
Range varies slightly between models – 398 miles for the standard version and 387 miles for the Turbo.
Design Changes
Porsche describes the styling as “unmistakably Cayenne” but sleeker than the current generation. The electric version features a lower hood, cleaner front end, and smoother side panels.
The rear gets a redesigned tailgate with a 3D light bar and illuminated Porsche script.
Active aeroblades on the Turbo’s rear bumper extend at high speeds to improve aerodynamics. All versions include a nearly flat underbody, active front aero flaps, and an adaptive roof spoiler.
Overall length increases by 5.5cm compared to the gasoline Cayenne. The wheelbase grows by 13cm, creating significantly more rear passenger space.
Boot capacity reaches 781 liters with an additional 90-liter front trunk.
Interior Features
The cabin introduces Porsche’s new “Flow” display – a curved OLED screen that flows seamlessly from the dashboard into the center console. A 14.25-inch curved instrument panel handles driver information, while an optional 14.9-inch passenger display is available.
Despite the extensive screen setup, Porsche retained physical controls for climate and audio functions.
Standard features include electrically adjustable rear seats, an electrically switchable panoramic sunroof, and heated armrests plus door panels alongside heated seats.
“Mood Modes” automatically adjust seating position, lighting, air conditioning, sound profiles, and display themes.
Orders are open now with extensive customization options. Buyers can choose from 13 exterior colors, nine wheel designs from 20 to 22 inches, five interior packages, and five accent packages.
Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur, Paint to Sample, and Sonderwunsch programs offer even deeper personalization for customers wanting unique specifications.
