Porsche has launched the Macan GTS Electric, slotting between the 4S and Turbo models in the all-electric SUV lineup. The new variant starts at £89,000 and targets drivers seeking performance-focused electric driving.
The twin-motor setup delivers 509 horsepower in standard operation. Porsche’s Launch Control system boosts output to 563 horsepower during acceleration bursts, paired with 704 pound-feet of torque.
This represents a significant jump over the previous petrol Macan GTS – 129 more horsepower and 299 additional pound-feet of torque.
Performance and Handling Focus
Most power comes from the rear-mounted motor, borrowed directly from the Macan Turbo. The 48:52 weight distribution creates a rear-biased setup that Porsche says enhances driving engagement.
The GTS includes specially-tuned anti-roll bars and Porsche’s electric Traction Management system. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus helps distribute power between wheels for better cornering.
Air suspension sits 10mm lower than other Macan Electric models, creating the lowest center of gravity in the range.
The sprint to 62mph takes 3.8 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 155mph.
Distinctive Design Elements
Black exterior detailing distinguishes the GTS from other Macan Electric variants. Standard features include widened side skirts, an enlarged rear diffuser, and 21-inch wheels.
Optional 22-inch wheels are available, though they’ll reduce the claimed 363-mile driving range. Rear-wheel steering can also be added for improved maneuverability.
Porsche has created a unique sound signature called Electric Sport Sound specifically for the GTS model.
Charging and Interior
The 800-volt architecture supports charging speeds up to 270kW using the same 100kWh battery found in the 4S and Turbo. A 10-80% charge takes approximately 21 minutes under optimal conditions.
Inside, the GTS maintains the standard Macan Electric layout with a 12.6-inch driver display and 10.9-inch central touchscreen.
Race-Tex upholstery and black leather trim differentiate the interior. An optional 10.9-inch passenger screen is available for additional functionality.
The Macan GTS Electric positions itself as the fifth member of Porsche’s all-electric SUV family, offering a middle ground between everyday usability and track-focused performance.
