Renault has launched the Renault 5 Roland-Garros edition, the first special edition of its latest EV.

Priced at £29,995, this tennis-themed model sits at the top of the Renault 5 range, paying tribute to the famous Roland-Garros tournament.

The Roland-Garros edition builds on the Iconic grade with unique 18-inch diamond-cut ‘Electro’ alloy wheels and offers an exclusive ‘Shadow Grey’ matte paint finish. Buyers can also choose Arctic White, Midnight Blue, or Diamond Black exterior colors.

Satin finished chrome detailing adorns the exterior, along with a distinctive Cross of Saint Andrew design featuring the Roland-Garros logo on the front doors.

Inside, the tennis theme continues with brushed aluminium door sills featuring the Saint Andrew’s Cross motif. The car comes with exclusive light grey upholstery made from 100% recycled materials that blends sports clothing and upholstery fabric textures.

The seats feature contrasting dark blue inserts that extend to the door cards and dashboard, where a special backlit Roland-Garros nameplate distinguishes this special edition.

Tennis-inspired touches are found throughout the cabin. The e-pop shifter tip mimics the grip of a tennis racket and displays the Roland-Garros logo at the end. The center console includes a clay-colored wireless smartphone charger — a nod to Roland-Garros’ famous clay courts — with matching accents on the floor mats.

The Renault 5 Roland-Garros uses the larger 52kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of 252 miles.

Orders for the special edition are now open to Renault R-Pass holders.

This isn’t the first time a French automaker has partnered with the prestigious tennis tournament. Peugeot previously offered Roland-Garros editions starting with the 205 and 405 in 1989, with the final version being the 2015 208.
