Renault has opened reservations for its Renault 5 Turbo 3E with pricing starting at £135,000, as the French automaker prepares to launch what it calls a “mini-supercar.”

Production will be limited to just 1,980 units, with the introductory price available only to the first 500 customers who register. Buyers must complete a reservation form on Renault’s website in their country, then select a dealer who will contact them to finalize the priority reservation.

The vehicle will hit markets in Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia in mid-2027. Dealers will begin contacting customers in early 2026 to customize their vehicles.

Color options include ‘Rouge Grenade’ red and a black, yellow, and white livery inspired by the ‘R5’ Turbo that won the 1982 Tour de Corse rally. Renault will offer additional colors through its ‘gentleman driver’ options list, along with various interior and exterior customizations.

While it resembles the standard Renault 5 EV hatchback, the Turbo 3E sits on a completely different platform. It features a bespoke rear-wheel-drive aluminum chassis with two in-wheel motors at the rear.

The powertrain delivers 536bhp and 3,540lb ft of torque, pushing the car to a top speed of 168mph.

Renault has kept weight down to 1,450kg thanks to a carbon fiber body shell, positioning the Turbo 3E among a growing segment of lightweight performance EVs.

Despite its rally-inspired design – complete with vertical handbrake and “drift assist” mode – the car offers practical EV capabilities. Its 70kWh battery can charge from 15-80% in just 15 minutes with charging speeds up to 350kW.

This rapid charging comes courtesy of the car’s 800V architecture, developed by Ampere – Renault’s dedicated EV and software division that’s driving the company’s electric vehicle strategy.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will make its public debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed and will be showcased at various RNLT urban retail locations throughout Europe.
