Renault Scenic now qualifies for the top-tier Electric Car Grant, reducing its starting price by an additional £2,250 after the family SUV met stricter sustainability requirements.
The award-winning SUV secured the full Band 2 discount of £3,750 – up from the previous £1,500 Band 1 saving it qualified for earlier. This makes it the third EV from the French manufacturer to earn the maximum grant level.
The pricing change takes effect immediately.
The entry-level Scenic E-Tech techno now starts at £33,245, positioning it among the most affordable electric SUVs in the competitive C-segment market.
Mid-tier pricing for the Scenic E-Tech techno esprit Alpine begins at £36,245. The range-topping iconic esprit Alpine variant starts at £38,245.
Renewable Energy Manufacturing
Renault earned the higher grant tier by demonstrating 100% renewable energy use for battery production at supplier LG’s facility in Poland. The completed battery packs are then shipped to Renault’s Electri-city manufacturing plant in Douai, France, where they’re installed in the vehicles.
The Electric Car Grant program evaluates manufacturers based on their sustainable production methods.
Three Renault models now qualify for the maximum Band 2 ECG discount: the Scenic and 52kWh versions of both the Renault 4 and Renault 5.
The Megane, along with 40kWh variants of the R4 and R5, remains eligible for the £1,500 Band 1 discount.
Sustainability Leadership
Renault Group was the first car manufacturer to have its decarbonisation targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) back in March 2019, and confirmation of the maximum grant for Renault Scenic, as a result of its battery maker using 100% renewable energy at its plant, is another demonstration of how we have prioritised putting sustainability at the heart of our manufacturing processes,
said Adam Wood, managing director of Renault UK.
The French automaker has seen significant growth in UK electric vehicle sales.
In the first quarter of 2026, Renault’s EV registrations jumped 87% year-on-year. The increase was driven by launches of the Renault 4 and Renault 5, combined with growing consumer confidence in the government’s Electric Car Grant program.
Now, 1 in 3 new Renault cars sold is electric, proving that there is a strong appetite for great electric cars that are brilliantly designed, fun to drive, packed with tech and affordably priced,
Wood added.
Electric vehicles now represent approximately 33% of Renault’s UK sales mix – a significant milestone for the brand’s electrification strategy.
