Rivian has launched its micromobility subbrand Also, unveiling an initial lineup of all-electric vehicles including the TM-B bike and two TM-Q quad variants.
The Palo Alto-based firm targets short urban trips with these zero-emission alternatives. The company points out that 80% of car trips cover less than 15 miles, with half under six miles.
Also’s EVs serve both individual riders and commercial fleets looking to reduce city congestion.
TM-B Electric Bike Features Modular Design
The TM-B represents what Also calls a “category redefining electric bike.” Its standout feature is a modular top frame that swaps with a single touch.
Riders can switch between configurations – one optimized for commuting and utility work, another designed for off-road and recreational riding.
The bike runs on Also’s DreamRide technology, which replaces traditional mechanical connections with software-driven motor control. This system combines precision motor management with energy regeneration to match each rider’s style.
“Ground-up technology platform that enables us to deliver rich, personalized experiences that get better over time, through the power of software,” said Rivian Founder and CEO RJ Scaringe.
A digital touchscreen provides navigation, media controls, and smartphone integration. The screen activates automatically when riders approach their bike.
Security features include automatic locking of the battery, wheels, and frame when the rider walks away. The Also smartphone app sends real-time tamper alerts to owners.
Rivian hasn’t released battery specifications or range figures for the TM-B. The company promises “state-of-the-art energy density, safety, and USB-C fast charging up to 240 watts.”
TM-Q Quad Targets Commercial and Consumer Markets
Also’s TM-Q electric quad uses the same technology suite as the TM-B. The company plans two versions – commercial and consumer models.
The commercial TM-Q focuses on last-mile deliveries. Its data-driven platform helps businesses transition to all-electric fleets while optimizing vehicle usage and reducing operational costs.
Consumer versions target motorists wanting a compact, zero-emission car alternative. Like the Citroen Ami and Microlino, the TM-Q handles short daily trips and errands.
Technical details and pricing remain undisclosed for both TM-Q variants.
Alpha Wave Helmet Adds Safety Technology
Also’s Alpha Wave Helmet features what the company calls “next generation helmet safety technology.” The helmet uses a Release Layer System where outer panels detach during accidents.
This design dissipates rotational forces that typically cause brain injuries.
The helmet includes integrated lighting for visibility plus an audio system with four wind-shielded speakers and two noise-cancelling microphones. Riders can follow navigation directions, take calls, or stream audio while riding.
Availability and Partnerships
Pre-orders for the TM-B opened with deliveries expected in spring 2026. US customers will purchase Also vehicles through Rivian’s online platform and retail stores starting later this year.
Also has signed a multi-year partnership with Amazon to develop a custom pedal-assist cargo quad for last-mile deliveries.
The specialized vehicle will join Amazon’s micromobility fleets across Europe and the US once development completes.
