Skoda has begun mass production of its Elroq electric SUV at its Mlada Boleslav headquarters in Czechia.

The compact SUV, built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric platform, joins the assembly line alongside the Enyaq EV. To accommodate Elroq production, Skoda shifted some Octavia manufacturing to its Kvasiny plant.

The facility can produce up to 600 Elroqs daily. The Mlada Boleslav plant manufactures battery systems for both the Elroq and Enyaq models.

The factory reached a significant milestone in 2024, producing its millionth battery system for Volkswagen Group vehicles.

“The production launch of our new Elroq compact SUV at our main plant is a great accomplishment for the entire team,” said Andreas Dick, Škoda board member for production and logistics. “By sharing the assembly line with the Enyaq along with the local production of MEB platform battery systems, this creates significant synergies in production and cost efficiency, which ultimately benefits our customers.”

The entry-level Elroq 50 starts at £31,500 in the UK. It features a 59kWh battery delivering 232 miles of range.

The Elroq Edition 50 trim, priced from £34,450, includes:

  • Heated front seats and steering wheel
  • Wireless charging
  • Keyless entry

Skoda plans to introduce an Elroq Edition 85 variant with an 82kWh battery, offering 360 miles of range. A SportLine trim will also join the lineup. UK pricing and launch dates for these models remain unannounced.
