Skoda has unveiled its cheapest electric vehicle yet with the debut of the Epiq crossover at the Munich motor show. The Czech brand displayed what it calls a “show car” that’s understood to be very close to the finished production model.
The Epiq will enter production in 2026 to compete directly with the Renault 4, Hyundai Inster and Citroen E-C3 Aircross in the affordable EV segment.
Skoda confirmed the Epiq’s price will match its petrol-powered Kamiq sibling “in many markets” – meaning around £25,000 if that includes the UK. That would undercut key competitors like the Renault and others in this space.
Range and Performance
The Epiq promises up to 264 miles of range on a single charge.
Skoda hasn’t confirmed battery sizes yet. Industry sources believe it’ll use either 38kWh or 58kWh batteries along with a 208bhp motor – the same setup planned for other MEB-Small platform models.
At 4.1 metres long, the Epiq becomes Skoda’s smallest EV by some distance. The brand says it still offers space for five passengers and up to 475 litres of boot capacity – more than the larger Elroq.
Design Language
The Epiq becomes the first model to fully adopt Skoda’s Modern Solid design language. Parts of this design already appear on the Elroq and Enyaq, but the Epiq takes it further.
That translates to a simple angular exterior with clean lines defining its crossover look. The glossy Tech Deck front end features a full-width light bar while the main headlights sit lower in the bumper.
Front and rear sections feature rugged-looking “skidplates” to enhance the SUV appearance.
Skoda hasn’t shown the Epiq’s interior yet. The company says it’ll be a minimalist and functional space focused on practicality and usability. Skoda’s usual smart storage and luggage solutions will be present – including hidden underfloor compartments.
There’ll be a mixture of physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels for key functions.
Production Plans
The Epiq will be built in Spain as part of Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family initiative. This “family” shares platform and technology across multiple brands.
It also includes the Volkswagen ID Cross, ID Polo and Cupra Raval – all showcased at this year’s Munich show.
“The Epiq show car offers a concrete glimpse into the next addition to Skoda’s successful all-electric family,” said Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto. “It embodies the essence of Skoda: modern solid design, a spacious interior within a compact footprint, user-friendly, intuitive digital interfaces, and Simply Clever details that ensure a seamless experience – and above all – at an attractive price point.”
Production begins in mid-2026 at the Spanish facility.
With the Epiq, Skoda’s taking another step toward making electric cars a practical choice for everyday drivers who want affordability without sacrificing space or features.
