Skoda released its first teaser images of the Vision O concept car, which signals the future direction for an all-electric Octavia model.
The new teaser video and photograph reveal the silhouetted outline of a large estate car. Skoda says the concept previews its future plans for a segment where it’s enjoyed massive success over decades.
The Vision O will make its full debut at the Munich motor show on September 8.
The concept is expected to give clear insight into the size and styling of the next-generation electric Octavia, which should launch within the next three years.
Modern Solid Design Language
The Vision O builds on Skoda’s Modern Solid design language that’s already used on the Elroq and Enyaq models. But it maintains connections to Skoda’s existing estate range.
The teaser materials show a curved bonnet line similar to the Elroq. The roofline slopes down to a raked tailgate with a split roof spoiler.
Slimline taillights form a narrow T shape. Following Skoda’s current approach, the brand name is spelled out across the rear panel.
Oliver Stefani, Skoda’s head of design, said the new look blended emotional appeal with practical design.
“With Vision O, we are consistently advancing our ‘Modern Solid’ design language, boosting its emotional appeal and further refining our brand identity. New design concept also highlights our commitment to pushing boundaries and continuously bringing innovation to future automotive design. Clear lines emphasise simplicity, showcasing totally that we remain true to our brand values. Vision O is extremely practical for everyday use and brings surprising and thoughtful details.”
Estate Heritage and Future Plans
Skoda has been producing estate cars since the 1920s. The Octavia estate has been among its biggest successes in recent decades.
Klaus Zellmer, the Czech brand’s CEO, emphasized the significance of the Vision O concept.
“The Skoda Vision O design study will highlight the future trajectory of estate models under the influence of new technologies, sustainability, and the deep experience of Skoda Auto in this segment. This will be one of our most significant steps in developing and evolving our design language even further for this period of transition in the automotive industry. It will position us to remain a major player in the estate segment, where Skoda Auto has been engaged since the 1920s.”
Technical details remain under wraps. However, it’s believed the electric Octavia will use Volkswagen Group’s new SSP platform rather than the existing MEB architecture that underpins current Skoda EVs.
Before the electric Octavia arrives, Skoda will launch two more all-electric models:
- The Epiq will launch in 2026 as a compact urban crossover alongside the Cupra Raval and VW ID.2
- The production version of the Vision 7S will arrive after that, offering an all-electric seven-seat alternative to the existing Kodiaq
The Vision O concept represents Skoda’s commitment to maintaining its strong position in the estate segment while transitioning to electric powertrains.
