Smart has announced its #5 SUV will deliver up to 366 miles of range and 400kW DC charging capabilities when it arrives in European markets later this year.

The mid-tier Pro+ models and above will feature a 100kWh battery, produce 358bhp, and achieve a 366-mile range from their rear-mounted motor.

All-wheel drive versions of the #5 offer increased power at 579bhp and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, though range decreases slightly to 355 miles. The entry-level Pro model comes with rear-wheel drive only, delivers a 288-mile range, and reaches 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds.

Every #5 model includes 800V electric architecture as standard, enabling DC charging at up to 400kW – making it among the fastest-charging EVs available and allowing a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Smart has also revealed European pricing for what will be its largest vehicle to date. The entry-level Pro models will start at approximately £38,700, with Pro+ versions at £42,000, and the higher-end Plus and Premium models at £46,000. The outdoor-focused Summit Edition will cost around £47,000.

The #5 represents Smart’s third EV in three years and will be offered exclusively as an electric vehicle in Europe. Other markets will also receive a hybrid version of Smart’s competitor to the Ford Explorer, Skoda Enyaq, and Volkswagen ID.4.

“We are proud to launch the smart #5 as our first-ever mid-size family SUV in Europe, built on an advanced 800-Volt platform for superior efficiency and performance. As our most versatile model to date, the smart #5 combines range, usability, and future-proof technology. This milestone, coinciding with smart Europe’s fifth anniversary, showcases our international team’s innovation and engineering expertise,” said Smart Europe CEO Dirk Adelmann.

The Smart #5 will initially launch in Germany on April 24, 2025, with wider European availability scheduled throughout Q2 and Q3 this year.

Later this year, the Geely-owned manufacturer will expand its lineup with the Smart #6 – the brand’s first four-door sedan. Similar in size to the Mercedes CLA, the #6 is expected to generate 638bhp in Brabus form, making it the most powerful Smart ever produced.
