Volvo has launched a new Black Edition trim for its award-winning EX30 electric crossover, offering customers a sleek alternative with exclusive styling touches.

The EX30 Black Edition starts at £40,060 for the entry-level Single Motor Plus configuration. Buyers wanting the Dual Motor Performance setup will pay an additional £2,800.

Range-topping Ultra models command higher prices – £43,860 for single-motor versions and £48,860 for twin-motor performance variants. All Black Edition models come in just one exterior color: trim-exclusive Onyx Black.

Exclusive Design Elements

The Black Edition treatment extends beyond paint. Volvo’s front badge gets a high-gloss black finish, matching the rear ‘Volvo’ script and ‘EX30’ nameplate.

Color-coordinated roof spoiler and door mirrors complete the monochromatic look.

Plus trim cars include advanced sensing technology, adaptive cruise control, and an electronically assisted boot as standard equipment. Ultra versions add a panoramic sunroof, park pilot assist, and 360-degree parking camera.

Both configurations come with a heat pump – crucial for maximizing range during colder months. The 276bhp Single Motor delivers 295 miles of range, while the more powerful 434bhp Dual Motor Performance manages 279 miles between charges.

Studio-Inspired Interior

Inside, Black Edition models feature the exclusive Indigo interior option. The deep blue cabin uses upcycled denim upholstery that Volvo describes as “studio-inspired.”

The EX30 joins the EX40 and EC40 as the third Volvo EV to receive Black Edition treatment. The automaker’s expected to extend this trim to the flagship EX90 and upcoming EX60, mirroring their internal combustion counterparts.

Manufacturing for Black Edition models will take place in Europe – a shift from earlier EX30 production as Volvo seeks to meet growing EV demand while reducing logistical dependence on China.

Expanding EX30 Lineup

The Black Edition isn’t the only specialized EX30 variant. Volvo also offers the outdoorsy Cross Country version, which features increased ride height, larger wheels, and chunky plastic body cladding inspired by the beloved XC70 from the company’s heritage lineup.

Deliveries for the EX30 Black Edition are expected to begin later this year as Volvo continues expanding its electric vehicle portfolio across multiple market segments.
