Subaru will debut the E-Outback as the safety car for the Forest Rally Stage at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The all-electric crossover will make its first UK dynamic appearance at the event.

The E-Outback and Subaru’s smaller EV, the Uncharted, will be displayed in the manufacturer’s paddock area at the Forest Rally Stage entrance.

The Japanese automaker plans to showcase two cars from its rally heritage alongside the new models. The Subaru Impreza 2001 WRC – which Richard Burns drove to the 2001 World Rally Championship title – will be on display. The 1992 Subaru Legacy Group N that Burns used for that year’s National Rally Championship win will also appear.

Lorraine Bishon, brand managing director for UK and Ireland, highlighted Subaru’s connection to the event.

“Subaru is synonymous with all-wheel drive and an iconic rally sport heritage. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the perfect setting for the all-electric E-Outback to make its UK dynamic debut and for visitors to explore the new E-Outback and Uncharted models.”

The 376bhp E-Outback represents Subaru’s new approach to electrification while keeping the company’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system. It shares its platform with the Toyota bZ4X Touring – part of Subaru’s multi-model partnership with Toyota.

New Models Signal EV Strategy Reset

The Uncharted uses the Toyota C-HR+ as its foundation but features Subaru’s more rugged styling. Subaru announced the Uncharted’s battery specifications last July, though the E-Outback’s range details haven’t been confirmed yet.

Both models’ range figures are expected to match the bZ4X Touring’s capabilities.

Subaru hasn’t released pricing for either the E-Outback or Uncharted. The company’s Goodwood appearance suggests order books could open soon – timing that would align with the Festival’s high-profile platform for new model launches.

The 2026 Festival of Speed will mark Subaru’s return to showcasing both its rally heritage and electric future at one of the UK’s premier automotive events.
