Subaru’s planning to launch three new electric cars across Europe over the next year. The Japanese automaker’s finally ramping up its EV efforts after a slow start in the electric market.
The company says it’s tripling its electric vehicle lineup in Europe and the UK. The roster includes an updated Solterra and the brand-new Subaru Uncharted, with the E-Outback completing the range by summer 2026.
Subaru Uncharted Leads the Charge
The Subaru Uncharted will spearhead this electric push as a C-segment SUV-coupe positioned below the Solterra.
At 4.5 meters long, the Uncharted shares its foundation with Toyota’s upcoming C-HR+ but gets Subaru’s signature rugged treatment. The company’s raised the ride height to 210mm of ground clearance and added black body cladding plus protective skid plates.
The front end gets a complete redesign with a unique bumper, grille, and lights that match the updated Solterra’s styling.
Performance comes from a 338bhp all-wheel-drive system using two motors. That setup launches the Uncharted to 62mph in five seconds and provides 1,500kg towing capacity. A 77kWh battery delivers up to 292 miles of range.
Two front-wheel-drive variants round out the lineup. The Long-Range version uses the same 77kWh battery for 363 miles of range paired with a 221bhp motor. The entry-level model gets 165bhp and a smaller 57.7kWh battery good for 276 miles.
E-Outback Continues Legacy
Originally shown as the Trailseeker concept, the E-Outback brings one of Subaru’s most popular nameplates into the electric era.
Built on Toyota bZ4X Touring underpinnings, it’s essentially a large estate with raised suspension and standard all-wheel drive.
The dual-motor setup produces 375bhp and rockets the E-Outback from 0-62mph in just 4.4 seconds – faster than the gas-powered Impreza WRX. Subaru’s included its X-Mode drive system for tackling difficult terrain.
A 74.7kWh battery provides up to 279 miles of range.
The E-Outback sits above the Solterra as Subaru’s flagship EV when it arrives.
Updated Solterra Gets Major Improvements
The 2026 Solterra receives the same updates as the Toyota bZ4X it’s based on.
The previous 71.4kWh battery’s been replaced with a 73.1kWh unit that extends range to 310 miles – 21 miles more than before. While peak DC charging stays at 150kW, technical improvements mean faster charging speeds for longer periods and better performance in extreme temperatures.
New motors boost power to 233bhp, dropping the 0-62mph time to 5.1 seconds.
More importantly for many buyers, towing capacity doubles to 1,500kg.
The exterior and interior both get refreshed styling to match Subaru’s new design direction.
Both the Uncharted and updated Solterra will reach UK dealers in early 2026. The E-Outback follows in summer 2026.
Subaru hasn’t released pricing or final specifications yet – those details will come closer to each model’s launch date.
