A group of Lamborghini-driving TikTokers have launched a guerrilla campaign targeting Tesla’s Cybertruck, projecting critical messages onto the vehicles’ stainless steel tailgates without drivers’ knowledge.

The group, calling themselves @cybertruck_hunters, operates in various US cities.

Their projected messages include “Musk sold me this sh*tbox,” “MuSSk,” and “Tons of hype. Underwhelming in bed.” The projector operator wears a Jack Skellington mask from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Perhaps the most pointed slogan is “The most recalled truck in 2024” — referencing the thousands of Cybertrucks recalled after accelerator pedals became trapped by interior trim. The Cybertruck finally reached US customers in 2023, four years after its announcement.

The Cybertruck has faced problems internationally as well.

Greater Manchester police seized a Cybertruck earlier this year, stating the vehicle “is not road-legal in the UK and does not hold a certificate of conformity.”

The truck hasn’t been tested to UK safety standards and would likely fail them due to its sharp angles and inadequate pedestrian protection features.

Since launching in mid-February 2025, the Cybertruck Hunters have gained 33.7k TikTok followers and 4,865 Instagram followers.

This viral campaign adds to Tesla’s mounting challenges. The company has seen European sales drop by half since CEO Elon Musk aligned himself with President Donald Trump and right-wing parties like Reform in the UK and AfD in Germany.

Nearly 60% of UK EV buyers report being deterred from Tesla due to Musk’s political positions.

Tesla also faces EU tariffs on vehicles produced at its Shanghai Gigafactory.
