BMW just hit a major milestone at its Dingolfing factory in Bavaria – the two-millionth all-electric vehicle rolled off the production line.

The Tansanit Blue iX M60 xDrive heading to a customer in Spain represents more than just another car delivery. It’s proof that BMW’s electric vehicle strategy is working.

Factory Success Story

The Dingolfing plant has been building the iX since 2021 as part of BMW’s iFactory strategy – making electric cars right alongside gas-powered models on the same assembly lines.

One-sixth of BMW’s total EV production comes from this single factory. Last year, a quarter of all vehicles built there were fully electric.

The iX was BMW’s first dedicated electric vehicle since the groundbreaking i3. It kicked off the brand’s serious push into electrification.

Since the iX launched, BMW has rolled out electric versions of popular models across its lineup – the X1, X2, and X3 SUVs, plus the 4, 5, and 7 Series sedans.

Next Generation Coming

BMW’s Neue Klasse cars launch in 2026 – brand new models designed from scratch as pure electric vehicles.

The iX3 SUV is already on sale as the UK’s first 500-mile EV. The much-anticipated i3 arrives later this year as the first all-electric BMW 3 Series, promising well over 500 miles of range from the latest Gen6 powertrain.

Both Neue Klasse models are being built at BMW’s new Debrecen factory in Hungary – the company’s first plant powered entirely by renewable energy.

That sustainable energy, combined with manufacturing innovations, means the iX3 will have a smaller environmental footprint than its gas equivalent after just two years of driving.

A major landmark for electric vehicles.
