According to new research by Vauxhall, Legoland Windsor tops the list of the UK’s most EV-friendly family attractions – just in time for parents searching for summer holiday entertainment options.

The brick-themed resort offers the best balance of accessibility and charging infrastructure. It features 34 on-site charging devices and more than 60 fast or rapid chargers within five miles.

Vauxhall and Legoland Windsor have partnered to offer one family a free overnight stay, complete with fast-pass park access and a week-long loan of a Vauxhall Grandland EV.

The research examined several key factors for EV drivers. It looked at on-site charging provision, the number of fast chargers (7-49kW) within one mile, and rapid chargers (50kW+) within five miles.

Researchers also considered accessibility from major population centers – specifically how many of the UK’s 15 most populous cities fell within a 325-mile radius of each attraction.

That 325-mile distance matches the WLTP range of the Vauxhall Grandland.

Top Performers Show Strong Infrastructure

Legoland Windsor Resort sits just two miles from Windsor town center. The resort is accessible on a single charge from 12 of the UK’s most populated cities.

Chester Zoo in Cheshire claimed second place with impressive coverage – it’s reachable from all 15 major UK cities on one charge. The zoo provides 26 fast charge points on-site and 40 rapid charge points within five miles.

Madame Tussauds London secured third place.

Thanks to its central London location, visitors have access to 172 fast charge points within one mile and 304 rapid charge points within five miles. That means EV drivers should never struggle to find a charging option.

The London Eye and Shrek’s Adventure! tied for fourth place – both benefit from the capital’s extensive charging network.

Royal Edinburgh rounds out the top five with 81 fast chargers nearby and access to 262 rapid charging points.

The research highlights how charging infrastructure varies significantly across different regions. London-based attractions benefit from dense urban charging networks, while destinations like Chester Zoo and Legoland Windsor have invested heavily in on-site facilities.

Steve Catlin, managing director at Vauxhall, emphasized the practical value for families planning summer trips.

“As the summer holidays commence, we know many families will be taking to the road for some fun days out, and we understand that having the peace of mind about where to re-charge their electric vehicle is a crucial part of the journey. Our research provides an easy guide of family friendly attractions across the country for EV drivers to choose from, all within the range of the New Grandland Electric from the majority of the UK’s biggest cities.”

The study reflects growing demand for EV-friendly destinations as more families make the switch to electric vehicles.
