Fuse Energy and Easee have launched the UK’s cheapest home EV charging rate at just 5p per kilowatt hour during off-peak periods.
The partnership between the renewable energy supplier and Norwegian charger manufacturer undercuts the previous lowest rate of 6.7p/kWh offered by E.ON Next Drive.
Drivers can charge their EVs for around £1.25 to add 100 miles of range when using electricity during the off-peak window. These periods typically run for seven hours between 23:00 and 8:00, though exact times vary by supplier and tariff.
The 5p rate is available exclusively with purchase of an Easee One wallbox, which starts at £899 with installation completed within seven days.
Award-Winning Hardware
The Easee One delivers charging speeds up to 7.4kW and comes in five colors. Auto Trader named it the best home charger at their 2024 New Car Awards.
All Easee wallboxes include built-in Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity that integrates with dynamic time-of-use tariffs. This allows the charger to automatically schedule charging when electricity is both cheapest and cleanest.
Anthony Fernandez, CEO of Easee UK, said the partnership extends their commitment to smart charging solutions.
“With over 870,000 Easee chargers already installed across Europe in residential and fleet applications, this partnership extends our commitment to making EV charging smart, seamless and scalable,” Fernandez said.
He added that the collaboration empowers drivers to access lower-cost charging while contributing to grid stability.
Grid Benefits
The off-peak charging approach does more than save money – it reduces strain on the national grid by shifting demand to periods when renewable energy is most available.
Alan Chang, CEO of Fuse Energy, described the partnership as aligning with their mission to make clean energy more affordable.
“This partnership with Easee is a perfect match, combining the UK’s lowest smart charging EV rate with one of the most trusted and future-proof chargers on the market,” Chang said. “It’s a huge step towards a more intelligent and affordable electric future.”
The timing capitalizes on growing demand for cost-effective home charging solutions as EV adoption accelerates across the UK.
Easee has established itself as a major player in European charging infrastructure with installations spanning residential and commercial fleet applications.
